What do you do to relax when you are not writing?

I play with my daughter some.  Then I will try to play whatever MMORPG I am playing.  Then I might make a fantasy art pictures.

What, or who, inspired you to become a writer?

Just always wanted to write but wasn’t good at it; then one day I suddenly was and wanted others to read it.  The reaction was not bad, so I kept going :0)

Current work

What or who inspired you to write your current novel?

A lifelong love of Xena, Buffy, Wonder Woman, MMORPGs, and things like LOTR!

Tell us three interesting facts about your book which are not covered in the synopsis?

1) Mythology is bent to my will in this book. Takes what you think you know and moves it around.

2) This series will intersect with The Secret series in the novella I just wrote; so, read them all!

3) I do my own cover art.

What research did you need to do for this book?

I just used a name generator to make names. Got some mythological people that I wanted to be in the book and went from there. Great thing about fantasy is that you can make it all up!

Are any elements/characters of your book based on real life experiences or people you’ve met/known?

No, I think I would have realized I was talking to a mythological being J

Tell us a little about your current work-in-progress.

I just wrote the novella that will join all my books together and after that I started a spin off. I’m writing it right now and have 4,000 words in only like two days. I am a little burned out though!

Writing/publication process

What process did you adopt from inception through to the finished book?

The fly by the seat of your pants and try to work around real life one!

What do you need (or not need) around you whilst writing?

Music. I need to listen to music. I need my child and husband to be quiet as well. Oh and inspiration really helps!

What prompted you to self-publish your current book?

I am a control freak. I don’t need a middle man. Plus, why involve others?  I want these to be as much of me as possible.

What were the three biggest challenges you faced when writing your book?

1) Time to do them

2) Inspiration/ideas when I needed them

3) Carpal Tunnel!

Every author seems to suffer with writer’s block at some point. How do you overcome it?

I don’t know, I just asked that question. Today I’ve had no creative mode at all. I watched TV and paid bills!

What single piece of advice would you give to any aspiring writer?

Write what you want. Make sure you want your name on it. Think of how your mom or someone like that would react to the book. Might want to consider a pen name LOL!

What genre does your book fall into?

How did you get interested in this specific genre?

Just always have liked things in that fantasy sci-fi genre. I used to love the sci-fi channel. I remember being about 5 and wanting to see Conan, but wanting to see Red Sonja more! I also remember renting the VHS player vs. the Beta player.

You as a reader

Which three authors have inspired you the most, and why?

1) Anne Rice-first author that I fell in love with her books.

2) Julie Kagawa-love her Fey books.

3) Quinn Loftis-love her Grey Wolves books.  She is also a pretty nice person to get to know.

What was your favourite book as a child?

I hated reading as a child. If you hold off until the teenage years Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles!

What is the best book you’ve read in the last 12 months?

Too hard to choose.

What was the last book you recommended to a friend, and why did you think it was worthy of recommendation?

My own book J - I was trying to get him to finally read it because he has had it for like two years now and still never read it.

Kindle (or other e-reader) or paperback, and why?

Kindle version just cause it’s easy to get.  I like paper back, but they are hard to market as a poor indie.  I want to get paperback done, but you really have to get popular to get to that point to justify the costs.

Hollywood is calling

You’ve had the call from Hollywood and they want your opinion on who should play the leading roles in the film based upon your book. Who would you choose, and why?

Oh I have no idea. I really am no good at putting actors in shows. I think things that “stink” to critics are great.

The film of your book is now going to need a soundtrack. Which musician(s) would you want to write and play it?

Linkin Park, Disturbed, Korn, Guns N Roses, Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Adelitas Way, Perfect Circle, Distured…just to name a few.
